Booksfer, LLC develops a digital reading and publishing platform — the reader applications, the author studio behind them, and the commerce infrastructure that pays writers. All of it is built in-house.
Overview
One platform, three sides
Digital publishing has three parties that rarely share the same software: the reader who wants a book to follow them across devices, the author who needs to write and release on a schedule, and the business that has to move money between them accurately.
Our platform is built as one system covering all three. A chapter written in the studio is scheduled, released to followers, read on web or mobile, and settled into the author’s earnings report without leaving our infrastructure.

Reading
The reader applications
Long-form reading is unforgiving of bad software. These are the problems our reader clients are built around.
Offline by default
Titles in a reader’s library are cached locally so that reading does not depend on a connection. Changes made offline are merged when the device reconnects.
Typography that holds
Layout, hyphenation and pagination are tuned per screen size rather than reflowing a desktop layout down, because most reading on the platform happens on a phone.
Writing
The author studio
The tools a writer needs to run a long-form serial, rather than to publish a single finished file.
Drafting and revisions
Chapter-level drafting with revision history, so an author can edit a published chapter and still see what changed and when.
Scheduled release
Chapters are queued ahead of time and released automatically on the author’s schedule, with followers notified as each one goes live.
Readership analytics
Per-chapter completion and drop-off figures, so an author can see where readers stop rather than guessing from comment counts.
Commerce
Payments and author earnings
The part of independent publishing that most platforms handle worst.
Multiple purchase models
The platform supports free titles, one-off purchases, paid individual chapters and recurring subscriptions, so an author can price a work the way it is actually being read rather than being forced into a single model.
Transparent settlement
Revenue is attributed per title and per chapter, reported to the author as it accrues, and paid on a fixed schedule. Card data is handled entirely by regulated payment processors — Booksfer does not store payment credentials.
